My first project as a Stylist, truly exciting!

Welcome September! A new month, new beginning and new hope.

A lot has been happening in life and I think I need to bring you up to date with it. Besides the blog writing and contest winning, I have had two major things happening. After accepting redundancy from my state government job of 6 years, I was not quite sure if I was ready for this big change in life. I got my first fashion writing assignment in that same week!
I’m loving the monthly assignments now and the satisfaction of seeing it in print is something else!! Read the press section of the blog to stay updated.

The next major thing was styling projects that randomly started popping in and I was convinced about things coming to you at the right time!

So here’s a look at my very first project and you bet it’s close to my heart and very very special!

Let me tell you a bit about Shayoka, for whom I did  this styling session. Shayoka is a shopping enthusiast and she had bought herself a whole lot of goodies at sales. She was planning a trip to London and Paris and wanted some stylish ideas to combine pieces from her wardrobe to make striking outfits.

Note- All items featured here are from Shayoka’s wardrobe.

Look 1

How it works- Neutral top and cute jacket paired with these cobalt blue pants was a chic combination and then we infused some color into it with the fuchsia skinny belt and pointed toe flats. The accessories were kept minimal as the focus was on the bright pieces.

Look 2

How it works- Shayoka had no reservations in wearing theses fitting faux leather pants and once again we decided to keep it all neutral, this time black. The highlight had to be the texture of the pants. This cute coral pink blazer was mixed and matched with the earrings and pretty Aztec statement necklace.
Look 3

How it works- This was a fun look. We had a great time doing this day to night look using a uniform color palette. The rusty orange top worked so well with the brick colored pants and we threw in a yellow printed scarf for a day look and replaced it with a light orange statement necklace and color blocked clutch for an easy transition to the night look.

Look 4

How it works- Shayoka loves her floral pants and was very sure she wouldn’t be leaving those behind on her Europe trip! We added a structured fuchsia top to make it casual yet smart. The key piece here is the aqua wooden statement neckpiece that just completely brought the whole look together.
Look 5

How it works- You can see not one but two ways that we styled this pretty delicate print dress. Shayoka decided to pick the one without the red shrug, as it was warmer than expected in Paris. I was so delighted when she sent me her picture from under the Eiffel tower in this very outfit. It was immense satisfaction as a stylist.
