Being in the thick of winter is making me dream about warm snugly coats and cozy knits. This year I’m obsessing over knits more than any other winter pieces but at the same time how could I possibly ignore perennial pieces. A monochrome dress is a fitting perennial piece wouldn’t you agree?
I’m a lover of wrap dresses, there is something flattering about the way they sit giving an illusion of an empire cut style. While a DVF (Diane Von Furstenberg) wrap dress is most definitely on my wish list, I decided to grab this DVF inspired faux wrap dress from Target at a massive clearance price for now. If you are following along on Instagram I hope you’ve been enjoying looking at some of the sale goodies I’ve posted including this dress. The monochrome print and soft fabric make this dress a clear winner at $20
Teamed with a crimson coat, this fabulous roomy, structured DVF bag (my perfect Christmas present last year!!) and tall black suede boots the dress looks work appropriate. A variation to the pencil skirts and trousers, the wrap dress is both comfortable and stylish. The tonal accessories and the black and white dress provide the perfect backdrop for a coloured coat. So if you’re in doubt about bright coats I’m hoping this outfit helps you imagine new possibilities.
So that’s a simplified winter work look and now coming back to the perennial quality of this dress, wouldn’t look just fabulous with nude high heel pumps, light trench and grey oversized clutch! That’s triggered my inspiration for a Spring outfit post now;-)
And here’s a look at the finer details:
